Ruby on Kevin Smith flight drama: “I feel so sad”
February 17, 2010
After a humiliated Kevin Smith was kicked off a plane in Oakland, Calif., for being too large for his seat, Ruby Gettinger is supporting the writer/director in his frustration at the everyday obstacles of being overweight. “I feel so sad for Kevin! I can only imagine what that must have felt like. We all come in different shapes and sizes, and deserve to be treated with respect,” the reality TV star, who documents her struggle with obesity on her self-titled Style Network show, tells In Touch. Cop Out director Kevin angrily turned to his Twitter page, claiming he broke no regulation, after he was asked to leave a Southwest Airlines flight on February 13. A spokesperson for Southwest countered by saying in a statement to In Touch that “employees are responsible for the safety and comfort of all customers on the aircraft.” Ruby has a fair solution to the ever-present problem. “My personal opinion is this kind of stuff should be taken care of in private before someone like me or Kevin enters a plane,” she adds.
