Rip Torn Pleads Not Guilty in Drunken Bank Robbery
March 30, 2010Troubled actor Rip Torn, whose recent drunken bank burglary resulted in a hilarious arrest and got his character killed off 30 Rock, pleaded not guilty today.
The 78-year-old entered a not guilty plea to gun and burglary charges after an incident in which cops say he was so drunk, he broke into a bank … strapped.
His reasoning for the January break-in? He thought it was his own house.
Ruggedly handsome, drunkenly maniacal: The faces of Rip Torn.
Torn appeared in Litchfield County Court in Connecticut today, facing first-degree burglary, carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, second-degree criminal trespass, and third-degree criminal mischief charges.
He pleaded not guilty to all of them and is due back in court on April 27.
Torn’s attorney told he court that Rip is making progress in his alcohol rehabilitation program and has moved from an inpatient to an outpatient program.
Suburban Connecticut banks should hire extra security just in case.
