Michael Douglas: “Trying to be there” for his kids
May 26, 2010
In light of his son Cameron’s recent transfer to a minimum-security prison, Michael Douglas says his famous clan is doing well. “The family is great. I’m trying to be there for the kids. The kids are great,” the actor told In Touch as he was honored at The Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 2010 Chaplin Award Tribute in New York on May 24. In addition to wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and longtime friend Danny DeVito, Michael’s 93-year-old fellow thespian father, Kirk Douglas, was also at the swanky soiree. “I’m happy my dad is here, too,” the Solitary Man star added. The proud pop of Dylan, 9, and Carys, 7, with Catherine, Michael has also supported his 31-year-old troubled actor son, who was sentenced to five years in prison this spring for dealing methamphetamine and cocaine, and for heroin possession. “The best part of it is, he will be able to start his life afresh,” Michael recently said.
