In Touch Exclusive Interview:Ruby Gettinger: “I feel bad for the models”
February 25, 2010
Style Network star Ruby Gettinger has been doing things she never thought possible, like attending her first New York fashion week show with In Touch on February 11. “This is unreal to me,” she said. Although the experience was a dream come true, what Ruby didn’t appreciate was the way people often criticize runway models for being too skinny. “I feel bad for the models, because you have people calling them anorexic or too thin,” Ruby tells In Touch. “It’s the same way I get attacked for being too big.”
Once 716 pounds and now just a few shy of 300, Ruby hardly recognizes herself when she looks in the mirror. “I see somebody different,” she revealed at the Toni Maticevski fashion show. “My face was always really big and round, but I have structure now. I have cheekbones and a jawline!” Even more exciting for Ruby is the fact that she is the smallest she’s been in decades. “I am the thinnest I’ve been since high school!” Ruby reveals. And she is finally fitting into her first pair of jeans. “It was a workout in itself trying to get them on, but when I did, it was unbelievable,” Ruby gushes. “I used to wear tents and cover-ups, so at first, it took a while to get used to. But now, I wear jeans all the time!”
