Ellen Pompeo’s Mother’s Day words of wisdom

She may have just celebrated her first Mother’s Day, but Ellen Pompeo is happy to sing the praises of her husband Chris Ivery’s skills as a father. Why is he such a good dad to their nearly 10-month-old daughter, Stella? “His sense of humor and his wisdom,” Ellen told In Touch at the American Cancer Society’s Choose You movement luncheon in New York, where the star advocated cancer prevention methods such as mammograms and sun protection. And the Grey’s Anatomy actress, who lost her mother when she was just 4 years old, knows how important it is to have two stable, healthy parents in a household. “You have to put yourself first,” she notes. “Women need to make time for themselves. We certainly want more birthdays and Mother’s Days!”
