Drew to be honored at the GLAAD Media Awards
February 19, 2010
Drew Barrymore has always been an outspoken supporter of gay rights and even took to the streets of West Hollywood to protest when the California Supreme Court voted to uphold Proposition 8, which banned gay and lesbian couples from getting married last year. Because of her support, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, otherwise known as GLAAD, is presenting her with their Vanguard Award. “I was born, bred and raised among diversity, it has defined me and made me the person I am today,” says Drew. “I’m honored and humbled to be receiving this award.” Comedian/talk show host Wanda Sykes is also being honored with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award during a gala in LA on April 17.
