Designing Women star Dixie Carter died in Houston on April 10 after a struggle with endometrial cancer. The veteran actress, who also guest starred on Desperate Housewives from 2006-2007, was 70 years old. “This has been a terrible blow to our family,” said Hal Holbrook, her husband of 26 years, in a statement. “We would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy.”
