Adele to Perform at 2012 Grammy Awards

January 31, 2012

It was already a safe assumption that we’d be seeing Adele on stage at the 2012 Grammy Awards, collecting practically every trophy handed out at the February 12 ceremony.

But CBS now confirms the artist will be singing at the event, as well, marking her first public performance since throat surgery in October.

Adele at the Grammys

“I’m immensely proud to have been asked to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards,” the best-selling artist of 2011 said in a statement. “It’s an absolute honor to be included in such a night and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.”

Adele is up for Record and Song of the Year for “Rolling in the Deep,” Album of the Year for “21,” and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Someone Like You.” She’s favored to win the most Grammys of anyone this year – and for good reason.

Dazayna Drayton, Daughter of Flavor Flav, Arrested For Attack on Rapper

Flavor Flav says his daughter, Dazayna Drayton, is getting a bad rap after her arrest this weekend, claiming she didn’t lay a hand on him … which she is accused of.

The whole thing was just a family dispute that got out of hand, Flav says.

Flav claims he tried to stop the cops from arresting Dazayna, but Nevada’s zero tolerance law requires police to book anyone who allegedly strikes a family member.

“The whole thing was a big misunderstanding that shouldn’t have happened,” he says. “No one in my family called the cops on my daughter; she did not beat me up.”

Flavor Flav Time

Flav, whose word must be taken with a grain of salt, as he is insane, makes it clear, “I love my daughter and will never let anything happen that could come between us.”

Dazayna Drayton was booked for misdemeanor battery Sunday.

It’s unclear who called the cops, but someone did after Flav’s 19-year-old girl got into an argument with one his stepsons, which eventually became physical.

Flav tried to break it up and got hit by his daughter for his troubles – either on purpose or by accident (he’s clearly saying the latter) – and authorities found enough evidence of domestic violence to take her into custody afterward.

Saturday Night Live Shakeup: Paul Brittain Out, Justin Bieber In… as Host?

Paul Brittain, who joined Saturday Night Live in September 2010, is leaving the iconic sketch series, effective immediately.

An insider tells Entertainment Weekly that the comedian had “the opportunity to pursue other projects, and he and the show parted ways amicably.”

Meanwhile, on the hosting side of things, consider these two scoops:

  1. In promotion of 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill will man the stage on March 10.
  2. On his podcast with SNL boss Lorne Michaels this week, Alec Baldwin hinted that Justin Bieber might host the show at some point this season. Yes, that Justin Bieber!

Channing Tatum will host this weekend’s new edition of SNL.

David Guetta Brings Nicki Minaj to Life in Video for “Turn Me On”

David Guetta has unveiled his official music video for the track “Turn Me On,” and it’s pretty awesome.

Featuring Nicki Minaj, the spot stars Guetta as a mad scientist who brings his 29-year old rapping counterpart to life. It’s really like a mini movie, as you can see here:

The collaboration itself currently resides at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and is off Guetta’s latest album, “Nothing But the Beat.” Hit up iTunes of a music store nearby today to pick up a copy.

Newt Gingrich Calls Mitt Romney Pathetic, Vows to Fight on After Florida Primary

As Florida Republican voters head to the polls, Newt Gingrich is already playing defense and lowering expectations while vowing to fight on against Mitt Romney.

Though he cited recent surveys showing him in the hunt in today’s primary and said “I think we absolutely can win,” Gingrich seemed resigned to defeat.

He made reference to Romney’s well-financed barrage of attack ads that have blanketed the airwaves and said that Mitt is running “pathetic” campaign.

“You want to know where all the ads came from that you’ve been watching for the last few weeks? That’s your money recycled through Goldman Sachs to Mitt Romney to tell you a bunch of falsehoods, and I don’t use that word lightly,” he said.

“I don’t think you should run for president unless you tell the truth.”

Gingrich noted that the Wall Street Journal and National Review described Romney’s ads against him as false, and questioned the former governor’s character.

“What a pathetic situation to be running for President of the United States … with nothing positive to say for yourself,” he said. “All you’ve got to do is to try to tear your opponents down so they get to be smaller than you are. That’s the Romney model.”

Still, Newt appears to be missing a bit of the energetic punch that placed an exclamation point on his rallies following his win in South Carolina 10 days ago.

Despite an electoral map that may become even more challenging for him after the Florida primary, though, Gingrich appears to be in no hurry to quit.

After vowing over the weekend to continue his campaign until the Republican convention in Tampa, he’s upped his criticism of Romney if anything.

“I’m a genuine conservative, and I actually study these things,” Gingrich said in Fort Myers. “I’m going to be upfront. I’m not a manager, I’m a leader.”

The campaign of Ron Paul has also said it aims to press on long enough to amass a stable of delegates to require some negotiation during the convention.

Both candidates hope, if they cannot win themselves, to prevent Romney from winning a majority of delegates – forcing the convention to pick a nominee.

The idea of a brokered convention remains a remote possibility, and whether Gingrich and Paul can actually make good on their goals is unclear.

Still, don’t expect this presidential nomination fight to end with a Romney coronation today, despite what certain media outlets will have you believe.

Chord Overstreet and Emma Roberts: It’s Over!

They had a good, adorable run, but it’s all over for Chord Overstreet and Emma Roberts.

Source confirm to Us Weekly that the couple – who went public in July of 2011 – has split, as the Scream 4 star attended this weekend’s Sundance Film Festival on her own.

“They’re both young kids, they had crushes on each other but the relationship ran its course,” an insider simply says. “She isn’t and wasn’t looking for a serious thing.”

Another insider adds that the Glee star was “such a good boyfriend,” which at least bodes well for his next relationship.

Kristen Bell Cries Tears of Joy, Excitement Over Sloth [Video]

This is one of the funniest, sweetest, most honest videos you’ll ever see of a celebrity.

During an appearance on Ellen this week, House of Lies star Kristen Bell first explains that she’s often an emotional wreck; if she gets remotely sad or happy – say, below a level three or above a seven – the tears simply flow.

She then goes to detail one example of just such blubbery: when boyfriend Dax Shepard presented her with a sloth for her 31st birthday last summer, an event/breakdown actually captured on camera, snippets of which are shared in the following clip.

It’s both hilarious and sort of touching. Watch now and fall even more in love with the gorgeous actress:

A.J. Lamas Accused of Terrorizing Ex-Girlfriend

A.J. Lamas, reality show staple, son of Lorenzo Lamas and brother of fame whore Shayne Lamas, has been accused of terrorism by his former girlfriend.

Jessie Schulman filed legal documents asking for a restraining order, claiming that she recently broke up with A.J. Lamas and moved on to a new relationship.

That’s when, allegedly, his reign of terror began.

A. J. Lamas

Jessie says on January 11 at 2 a.m., she was at home with her new BF when A.J. suddenly appeared outside her window. She says she yelled at him to leave.

Instead, he broke through the window screen and entered the house, yelling at Jessie and trying to lock the two of them in the bathroom … for reasons unknown.

So he could have a captive audience to speak his mind? It’s unclear, but Jessie says she talked him into leaving … after he stole some liquor on the way out.

Jessie says she talked him into leaving the house, but before he made his exit he made a pit stop at the fridge and grabbed a bottle of liquor. Classy.

It’s not known if the restraining order has been granted.
