Golden Globes Fashion Face-Off: Jessica Alba vs. Jessica Biel

January 16, 2012

We’ve compared co-stars (Modern Family‘s Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara).

We did a showdown of screen legends (Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren).

We’ve pitted sisters against each other (Emily and Zooey Deschanel).

Now it’s time for … hot namesakes who once dated Derek Jeter!

Okay, a bit of a stretch for a Fashion Face-Off featuring Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel. But both attended the Golden Globe Awards last night and we have images of them, so we encourage you to vote for your favorite style star in the poll below!

Kate Major Arrest Report: What a Psycho!

Kate Major is an out-of-control mess who needs help ASAP.

That’s the main takeaway from a police report filed after her arrest in Boca Raton, Fla., this weekend. If you missed it, Jon Gosselin’s and Michael Lohan’s ex-GF was jailed for battery after she was seen BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF A GUY AND HIS WIFE.

Police say Major allegedly had to be restrained on the ground by several people who saw her attacking and screaming at Rosario Tapia and Juan Jimenez.

The officer who wrote the report says, “I attempted to speak with [Kate Major], who was screaming and yelling obscenities at Tapia, calling her a ‘fat f**k’ and a ‘b*tch’.”

Jimenez told police he and Tapia pulled into the parking lot and noticed someone had parked in their assigned space, so they were waiting for another spot to open.

That’s when Kate Major, allegedly, came bolting toward the car out of nowhere.

Jimenez claims Major opened the door and went crazy, calling him and his wife “several racial names” before attacking his wife in the hands, breast and face.

When cops tried to arrest Major, police say she resisted arrest and tried to kick the officers. After she was arrested, she continued to act belligerently.

Officials say she yelled at police and tried to make a break for it. At one point, cops say, she slapped the arresting officer and called him a “fat f**k.”

She was since been released, but we have a hunch this isn’t over.

Jon Huntsman Quits Presidential Race, Endorses Mitt Romney

And then there were five. Jon Huntsman has become the latest casualty of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, dropping out this morning after a decent, but not overwhelming showing in the New Hampshire primary last week.

In announcing his withdrawal today, he derided the negativity permeating the GOP primary race and immediately threw his support behind Mitt Romney.

“Today, I am suspending my campaign for the presidency,” the ex-Utah governor and U.S. ambassador to China said at a news conference in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

“I believe it is now time for our party to unite around a candidate best equipped to defeat Barack Obama. Despite our differences and the space between us on some of the issues, I believe that candidate is Governor Mitt Romney.”

Huntsman’s support for the one-time Massachusetts governor is not unexpected given Romney’s frontrunner status (he won both Iowa and New Hampshire).

There are also issues on which the two men agree, and both are open about their strong Mormon faith, though relations between the two have been frosty of late.

Huntsman, who was polling behind Stephen Colbert in South Carolina, had no path forward and exited not by criticizing Romney, but the “toxic” tone of the race.

“This race has degenerated into an onslaught of negative and personal attacks not worthy of the American people and not worthy of this critical time,” Huntsman said.

Golden Globes Fashion Face-Off: Sofia Vergara vs. Julie Bowen

They make us laugh each Wednesday night on Modern Family, and they made us drool on the red carpet yesterday evening.

Indeed, among the many stars in attendance at the 2012 Golden Globes, few enjoyed a better time than Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen, both of whom were nominated for trophies; looked gorgeous; and took their rightful spot on stage when their series won Best Comedy.

But, sadly, one beauty must now become a loser. Study the fashion choices made by Vergara and Bowen and cast your vote accordingly:

David Furnish on Madonna Golden Globe Win: F–k Off!

Elton John’s husband David Furnish is PISSED that “Masterpiece” singer Madonna was among 2012′s Golden Globe Award winners with the Best Original Song.

Furnish called Madonna’s acceptance speech “embarrassing in its narcissism.”

Just moments after she won the statue, Furnish went to his Facebook page and WENT OFF on the Material Girl, writing, “Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!”

Elton John, who was nominated for a song from Gnomeo & Juliet, did not look happy when Madonna’s name was announced, but he has not commented.

Furnish, however, did not hold back in letting Madonna, who won for a song from W.E., have it, referencing her recent quasi-feud with another singer.

“Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows these awards have nothing to do with merit,” he said. “Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

In related news, Madonna’s cleavage was off the hook last night.

Golden Globes Fashion Face-Off: Lindsay Lohan vs. Paris Hilton vs. Kim Kardashian

The Golden Globe Awards honor the best in film and TV.

Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian have made contributions to neither, unless you count the latter’s train wreck marriage drama unfolding on E!

It actually is scripted, so many we should. In any case, all three celebrity gossip staples were on hand for a GG after-party Sunday night, for whatever reason.

There are no winners at life among this crew, but someone must emerge victorious in THG’s latest Fashion Face-Off. Vote for your favorite style star below!

Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King, Jr.!

The 83rd birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., was actually yesterday. But in honor of one of American’s greatest heroes, a national holiday commemorates it today.

The clergyman, activist, and civil rights leader became an iconic figure in the 1960s for embracing nonviolent methods to bring about sweeping social reforms.

King’s efforts in the American civil rights movements culminated in the 1963 March on Washington, where he delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech (below).

One of the most stirring orators in U.S. history, King personified the movement to expand American values to include a vision of an egalitarian, color blind society.

In 1964, MLK became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination in the U.S.

By the time of his death in 1968, at the age of 39, he had refocused his efforts on an even broader scale, seeking to end poverty and the Vietnam War.

Happy birthday to a true giant among men!

Golden Globes Fashion Face-Off: Emily Deschanel vs. Zooey Deschanel

Though perhaps most often associated with movies, the annual Golden Globe Awards also honor the best in TV, and as a result, many small screen favorites were on hand.

That includes two actresses who happen to be sisters!

Bones’ Emily Deschanel, dressed in blue, looks great for having given birth to her first child recently. Her younger sibling, New Girl star Zooey Deschanel, is a newly-single girl, but we don’t imagine that will last long. Major cutie alert!
