Plenty of questions surround the strange Casey Anthony video diary, which mysteriously surfaced online a day ago, but two things are crystal clear:

1. Everyone’s talking about it, and 2. The whole thing is bizarre.

No one seems to know why Anthony would record the thing, but even more strange is the lack of information regarding its release and Casey’s role in that.

It almost magically appeared in the Facebook ether without explanation, even by the person who posted it. Even that anonymous person pleads ignorance.

The video is taken in mirror image, thus making it harder to pinpoint her location, and the audio cuts in and out throughout, which may indicate editing.

Some think it was released by Casey Anthony, unintentionally or intentionally, only to be yanked offline quickly, but not before one person discovered it.

Others, chiefly Anthony’s attorney Cheney Mason, feel her computer was broken into by a sophisticated hacker. Mason told the Today Show as much:

“If we find out who did it and how they did it, then they are going to be, I hope, answering to state and federal law enforcement agencies,” he said.

Meanwhile, the original YouTube poster, who claims he didn’t steal it, spoke to E! News about how he got his hands on it … and is extremely vague.

“I checked Facebook one day and I had a message saying, ‘I have some things that you might be interested in and I trust you with it,’” the poster said.

He would not reveal his name for obvious reasons.

Adding that he was sent the video by an unnamed acquaintance, he says, “They gave me the video because they trusted me with the video and the pictures.”

“They knew I would not try and make money off it. And if it did leak onto the Internet, they would be authentic and that they were not fake Caseys.”

The poster said before releasing it on YouTube, he blocked out names of specific people Casey mentioned before posting it onto his channel as “unlisted.”

Asked why he released the clip at all, the poster said he simply wanted “Casey Anthony supporters to see that the secretive 25-year-old “is happy.”

And despite the viral spread of the footage that he made possible, the poster insisted that Casey never intended the video for public consumption.

“Casey did not want people to see these videos. Cheney Mason, her lawyer, says that Casey is doing the video diaries as a form of therapy.”

“She has nobody. She has her dog and her webcam.”

And yes, that was video diaries, plural. The poster confirmed he was in possession of a second video of Casey but does not plan on releasing it.

The first video was up for four minutes before, the guy says, the Facebook group The People Against ‘We Support Casey Anthony’ found and reposted it.

That is the alleged source of the widespread leak.

“I did not mean for this to happen. I wish it would go away,” the poster said. “It snowballed out of control. I feel sorry for her because the media is ripping her and the video apart. They need to let the girl live. I respect the constitution and she was found not guilty.”

The poster clarified that he does not know and has never met or been in contact with Casey Anthony, but claimed to know that Anthony has since altered her physical appearance from the blond bob and glasses look she had in the video.

Well, that settles that. Raise your hand if this clears it up for you. Hello? Anyone?

The incredible journey of American Idol kicks off again on January 17, and contestant should be warned: there will be no more Mr. Nice Judges.

“It was hard for me in the beginning to say ‘no’ at all,” Jennifer Lopez tells TV Guide Magazine. “[This year] we’re just as honest and just as compassionate, but maybe a tiny bit more blunt about it… it has to be tough love. Maybe we’re a little tougher on the tough-love part.”

What about the presence of The X Factor and The Voice? Is the team worried about singing competition overkill?

“There’s only one Coca-Cola,” Randy Jackson said in response. “There may be many different variations made, but this is the original one. That’s why I still call this the greatest talent show of its kind.”

Jackson adds that there’s a big difference between Idol and Simon Cowell’s British important: the former is a “more intimate show,” he says, elaborating:

“I think that’s what really helps these kids. It’s focused on us, yes, but not so much that you lose focus on the kids’ talent. We never want to overshadow that.”

Katy Perry has been following a “(Last Friday Night) T.G.I.F.” strategy in coping with her divorce from Russell Brand, but also is very distraught, according to reports.

The two are very likely related.

While in Kauai over the holidays to kick back and let the storm blow over back home, our beloved, newly-single “California Gurl” apparently spent little time relaxing.

“Katy partied the entire time she was in Kauai,” dished an eyewitness.

Let’s be clear: We are not judging or criticizing Katy for going out in the wake of the split as she figures out the next stage in her life. That’s just what’s happening.

In fact, the witness claims Perry seemed “very distraught over the breakup.”

That makes two of them. Russell Brand sources that even though he’s been doing his share of flirting these days as well, he, too, “is very sad.”

A reconciliation is not on the table, though, according to insiders.

This seems like a case of two people who really wanted to make it work, and are sad it didn’t, but Katy Perry and Russell Brand are just too different.

According to his manager Tina Davis, Breezy won’t be allowed to do any interviews for the rest of 2012, a measure intended to protect the gaffe-prone singer from himself.

The strategy had actually been set “a while back,” Davis said.

“We’re not trying to be rude, selfish or disrespectful to anyone in any way. If people are going to judge anything, judge him for his talent,” Davis told EW.

“He signed up to sing and entertain. Not to talk about his personal life.”

From a business and personal standpoint, it actually makes sense.

The media hounds Chris about a mistake he made nearly three years ago. He takes the bait and flies off the handle. An endless cycle and a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If Brown wants people to focus on his talent, the best way to do that is to live a low-profile life off the stage and kill it in concert. This way he can do so.

Besides, Rihanna and Chris Brown‘s Tweets will still generate plenty of buzz.

The new year has been ringing in new love for everyone in Hollywood! Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger has made her own love match with financial consultant Chris Kastigar.

The two were spotted canoodling at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, sharing an intimate dinner for several hours at Nobu. Patti was criticized for not being able to find her own loving relationship by a former client, after her split last year from fiancé Andy Friedman. After the breakup, she tweeted, “You always have to have your heart open. Learn from past relationships, try not to become bitter from them.” And it looks like Patti is ready to move on with her new man!

After dinner at Nobu, the pair headed into the Hard Rock’s 207 nightclub for one of San Diego’s hottest New Year’s Eve parties. Sipping Belvedere and Patrón all night, Patti and Chris chatted it up and partied with friends until sharing a kiss at midnight. The couple resurfaced at noon the next day when they checked out of their suite! Hot! She later tweeted about her stay, “@HardRockSD Thank you for everything. Hard Rock rocks!” Looks like someone had a fun on New Year’s Eve!

Over the summer, the singer and his father got matching tattoos of the Lord’s name in Hebrew. Now, Justin has done that one better, debuting new ink of Jesus Christ Himself this week, as the Big Guy graces the artist’s left calf muscle:

In April, Bieber also made his religious feelings well known, going off on the paparazzi for trailing him through Israel. He didn’t feel like they were respecting Jesus or the land on which He walked.
