In what is quickly becoming an uglier feud by the day, Oksana Grigorieva has apparently told Sheriff’s deputies Mel Gibson threatened her – with a gun.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the actor for alleged domestic battery, assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment.

The investigation is based on the following:

• Domestic Violence: Oksana alleges Mel punched her in the face twice, knocking out a tooth and chipping another one. Mel’s lawyers deny this.
• Assault with a Deadly Weapon: Oksana told deputies Mel threatened her with a handgun at his Malibu home, an allegation based on her word.
• Child Endangerment: Oksana claims that on January 6 of this year, Mel allegedly punched her in the face while she was holding their daughter.

There was also that racist, sexist tirade.

The accusations are piling up against Mel … but is Oksana lying?

As we reported earlier today, Mel’s lawyers will likely present evidence to deputies that Oksana made up some of the stories and tried to extort him.

He is expected to allege that she has demanded cash in return for secret, recorded tapes of their explosive arguments, some of which were leaked.

According to TMZ, Mel’s lawyers will meet with officials to argue Mel is innocent of any crime against Oksana Grigorieva, and the victim of extortion.

The website also claims Mel’s lawyers will present evidence that Oksana lied to Sheriff’s deputies by knowingly making numerous false statements.

The Sheriff’s Department will present the case to the L.A. County D.A.’s office for felony review … probably in two weeks. More details to come …

If Kristen Stewart is shy in public areas, how might she react while giving an Oscar acceptable speech?

We’re making quite the leap, of course, but the Twilight Saga star is receiving critical praise for her role in Welcome to the Rileys, a drama that comes out in October and co-stars James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo.

In the film, Gandolfini’s character is mourning the loss of his daughter and treats Stewart as a surrogate for his late child, as the latter portrays a runaway stripper. It’s quite the departure from Bella Swan.

We don’t see a great deal of Stewart in the trailer below, but you can get an early look at her role and at the movie now:

As for Kristen’s handsome boyfriend, Robert Pattinson is busy filming Water for Elephants these days. Both these stars should have bright careers long past the day the cameras stop rolling on Breaking Dawn.

A little rain couldn’t slow down Lady Gaga’s reign.

The singer played a full half-hour set on the Today show, belting out her newest song “You and I” (reportedly written for boyfriend Luc Carl) and some of her other hits.

Originally wearing oversized sparkle-encrusted bug goggles, she finished the routine without them. She did her traditional heel-banging on the piano, not to worry.

In one of the strangest celebrity gossip stories of the year, actor Jeremy London claimed last month that he was kidnapped at gunpoint and forced to do drugs.

The tale seemed hard to believe, literally, as London’s own family expressed public doubts over its validity and said the former Party of Five star needs help for a substance abuse problem.

While London insists the incident took place, he admits in a new interview that he struggles to remain sober. Asked if he’s been clean over the last couple months:

“I have had a few drinks here and there. I haven’t been perfect. I’ve been horribly depressed… I’ve slipped and I’ve taken a couple painkillers a couple times.”

Continued the actor:

“Being an addict sucks, it’s a disease and it’s a day-to-day struggle no matter what. But I’m doing great. I’m sober. This [kidnapping] is absolutely something that could cause someone to fall off the wagon…and I’ve been able to stay sober through it. So that’s a big test to me. I’ve proven that I can do it.”

And he has the best possible reason for doing so: a son.

“He’s the light of my life, I wouldn’t have made it through this without my son. I’m going to do whatever it takes to stay sober.”

That would-be Britney Spears-themed episode of Glee the singer’s manager Tweeted about in a shameless attempt to cash in on the Fox series’ buzz?

It’s totally on!

We’re as surprised as anyone, but the show’s creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that he’s writing an episode dedicated to her.

More than 13.5 million people tuned in to a Madonna-inspired episode last April. Can a Britney-themed episode come close to that total? Probably.

Will it be any good? That’s another story.

GIMME MORE GLEE! Britney Spears’ music is coming to the second season of the hit show. Hopefully the Glee cast all goes to Starbucks in honor of the pop princess.

Not everyone on the show, which was nominated for 19 Emmys, will be thrilled. Last May, Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, actually scoffed at the idea:

“I hope our show doesn’t go along that route,” he said.

We sort of hoped they wouldn’t, too, but perhaps we’ll be pleasantly surprised. It just doesn’t seem like she has the kind of catalog or musical style to fit the show.

Lady Gaga and Madonna have more vocal talent. Breathy moans, suggestive lyrics and auto-tuning might sell records, but how will they translate on the program?

Even if Leicester Bryce Stovell is the father of LeBron James, it’s unclear why this random dude would be entitled to any money.

Conversely, it’s crystal clear why so many sports fans are trashing James today: the egotistical superstar didn’t simply abandon his hometown of Cleveland for the Miami Heat – he did so in a ridiculously staged primetime special in front of a national audience.

We’d go off on LeBron more, but Cavs’ owner Dan Gilbert says it all in an email he posted on the team’s official site last night. Aside from telling a reporter that James “quit” in the playoffs, Gilbert wrote to fans:

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio… I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only: DELIVERING YOU the championship.

What’s a parent for if he can’t impart his life’s wisdom and comfort his daughter in her time of need? Enter Michael Lohan, perennial Father of the Year candidate.

Mike, who spent three years in prison after being convicted of insider trading, has a little advice for Lindsay Lohan, who must report to jail on July 20 for 90 days.

“It’s not going to be a good experience for her. Right now, she should be working on rectifying the situation and getting better,” worried Michael tells Us Weekly.

“It’s just a horrible experience. Twenty-three hours a day, she’ll be locked up. I’m going to get her out of that cell as much as I can. And Kate will be there, and we’ll work to get her out of that cell as much as possible.”

Kate is Kate Major, his fiancee, with whom he dined at New York’s STK restaurant. Kate worked as Linds’ assistant and dated Jon Gosselin last year. Gross.

SO HELPFUL: Michael is always looking out for attention Lindsay.

Michael admits Lindsay is currently refusing to speak to him “because she knows I still want to throw her in [rehab]. I’ve been trying to tell her how much I love her, that I’m behind her, that when she’s ready, I’m ready to help her.”

He adds, “If she would just realize that what she’s taking is toxic. Dina has denied that Lindsay is on prescription meds. Lindsay has denied that she is on prescription meds. Her friends have. Everyone has! And look at her! They’re lying.”

But Lindsay, who may appeal her sentence, “is not a criminal. She’s a person with a disease. She really is. She needs help. She needs medical attention.”

Never one to leave well enough alone, or shut the f**k up for any reason, M-Lo had a few words for his ex-wife: “Dina should be concentrating on helping Lindsay get off prescription drugs instead of stealing Fudgy the Whales from Carvel!”

Oooh, good one. Jackass.

Her accusations against Mel Gibson – physical violence, coupled with racist and sexist tirades – are absolutely sickening. But is Oksana Grigorieva telling the truth?

That’s what law enforcement officials wonder, having “serious concerns” over Oksana’s credibility in connection with her domestic violence claim against Gibson.

We’ve spent plenty of time detailing her accusations against Mel, including his viciously profane, racist tirade. But the counter-argument is she’s lying for money.

Moreover, sources are saying that Mel Gibson has emails and other evidence that Oksana “tried to extract money from Mel in return for the [explosive] tapes.”

Oksana Grigorieva apparently recorded several explosive arguments with the actor, with whom she split in January and has an eight-month-old daughter, Lucia.

BITTER BATTLE: Who’s telling the truth, Mel or Oksana?

Investigators are concerned that Oksana had contact with lawyers and judges while she negotiated a visitation agreement with Mel but never once contacted police.

Oksana was represented by lawyer Eric George, the son of California Supreme Court Justice Ronald George, to handle the visitation case surrounding Mel and Lucia. 

She endured two full days of mediation in May, conducted by two former judges, one of whom a former federal prosecutor, and negotiated a visitation agreement.

The agreement, signed by both Oksana and Mel, gave Mel full visitation rights and future joint legal custody of their daughter. But soon, she sang a different tune.

Last month, Oksana refused to give Mel his visitation rights and alleged abuse for the first time. Police are currently investigating Mel Gibson for domestic abuse.

Angelina Jolie recently revealed to Vanity Fair that there’d been discussions about a sequel to Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the married spy thriller that first got her together with Brad Pitt — and now that movie’s director Doug Liman tells In Touch about the Brangelina blockbuster that will probably never happen. “It was for sure going to deal with having kids,” Doug told In Touch at a Soho House private screening of Covert Affairs, a new spy series he’s producing for USA network. “We actually shot an alternate ending to Mr. & Mrs. Smith where, years later, they were at a carnival and their kid was shooting one of those guns to win a prize. Angie doesn’t want him to shoot the gun and Brad does. The kid hits a bullseye — and they realize they’re in a world of trouble.” The scene was cut for the same reason that makes the sequel unlikely. Says Doug, “It was something that Brad and Angie wanted to try, but the thing is, kids and guns are not necessarily a great combination.”
