A Confusing Situation: Mike Sorrentino to Launch Clothing Line

June 25, 2010

Wanna look like The Situation? Forget fake tanning and crunches.

Jersey Shore star Mike Sorrentino is set to make it easy for fans to copy his unique look: Us Weekly reports the well-chiseled ladies’ man has partnered with Dilligaf by Bohica Bill to launch a line of “couture” clothing.

These T-shirts, sweatshirts and accessories will hit stores next month.

This is more confusing than the popularity of Jersey Shore itself: When was the last time The Situation even wore a shirt?!?

This is The Situation

“Mike ‘The Situation’ embodies our irreverent approach to life,” wrote Dilligaf President Jodi Massry, supposedly seriously, in a statement. “He lives the ‘Let’s not take things so seriously’ mentality every day.”

By the way: Dilligaf stands for “Do I Look Like I Give A F***. Seriously. We couldn’t make that up if we tried.

THG Talk: An Exclusive Interview with Jordin Sparks

Before American Idol viewers decided to vote for the same guitar-playing male every season (David Cook…Kris Allen… Lee DeWyze), they selected Jordin Sparks as their champion.

We’ve been big fans of the talented singer since since she took the Fox stage and we were lucky enough to speak with her this week, as she took time away from her summer tour. We thank Jordin for her time and we present this exclusive interview below…

What has the American Idol experience been like for you? Can it be compared to what you imagined it would be like?
I imagined it would be easy, just a singing competition. HA! It was a lot of work and pretty stressful. But I made friendships that will last forever and I am really happy with how it turned out.

You’ve sung with Chris Brown. You’ve sung at the Super Bowl. What has been the most memorable professional experience for you?
Well, the fact that I get to sing for my job is the best thing. Everything else, the duet, the Super Bowl, touring… it’s all a bonus.

Successful Champ

Idol has received some criticism for naming three consecutive winners that were all very similar. Any thoughts on that?
I definitely think that when the show started to allow instruments, it opened itself up to a whole bunch of people who wouldn’t have auditioned before. So I’m glad those people can have the opportunity as well. But the show shouldn’t receive criticism for naming winners the audience voted for.

Any thoughts on Simon leaving?
It’s bittersweet. Simon was made out to be the villain. I’m going to miss him for sure… It’s going to be so different without [Paula and Simon]. I wish them nothing by the best in whatever they do moving forward.

What was it like to participate in the We Are the World remake?
It was amazing for me. The original is such a classic and pretty much everyone knows it… to see all the artists there for a cause bigger than ourselves was so humbling.

This is your first-ever solo tour. Talk about your plans and hopes  for it:
I’ve been so used to being the opening act. I’m adjusting to having more songs to sing, going on later, etc. But I’ve been having so much fun!

I just hope that those that come to the show have a great time. I’m lucky to have Allstate on tour with me to Promote X the TXT. It’s all about stopping texting and driving and making our streets safer.

We have a booth where my fans and parents can take the pledge to not text and drive. They can also take the pledge at facebook.com/thumbsuppledge.

I loved In the Heights! What made you want to join that cast?  Talk about your Broadway debut and how excited you are.
I’m so excited! I can’t wait to do something new. I wanted to be in the show as soon as I saw it back in February.

I loved the characters and how there was a person everyone could relate to. I’ve always wanted to do Boradway, but I didn’t plan for it to be this year.

I have all the songs memorized, I just need to work on the lines, entrances and exists. I don’t think I do too much dancing, but I’ve got rhythm – and I get to be in one place for an extended period of time… I can’t wait to have a “normal schedule.”

The Death of Michael Jackson: One Year Later

Michael Jackson passed away a year ago today. He was 50. The year that followed has marked a celebration of his life, invigorating legions of fans old and new.

The past 12 months have also made clear that his life was as unusual as his career was successful. Personally and professionally, the icon truly had no peers.

Only Lady Gaga topped Michael Jackson in albums sold in 2009, an indication of his legacy. But the tragic, bizarre details of his demise are equally noteworthy.

On top of the immediate causes of his death, and the role of Dr. Conrad Murray, are lingering questions about how a star so bright fell so far from his past glory.

When it comes to Michael Jackson, truth is stranger than fiction. Here’s a look back at some of the scandals and stories THG has covered since June 25, 2009:

Michael in Black and White

July 13, 2009: La Toya Jackson says MJ was murdered.

July 17, 2009: Tabloids report that Paris, Prince and Blanket want Michael’s sister to raise them, and that Norway dancer Omer Bhatti is Michael’s “secret son.”

July 24, 2009: Investigators formally begin looking into Dr. Murray’s actions, specifically whether he injected Michael with the powerful anesthetic Propofol.

July 27, 2009: Omer Bhatti’s mom may also be Blanket’s mom; Kai Chase and Grace Rwaramba both give interviews regarding the late singer’s final days.

August 1, 2009: Debbie Rowe, the mother of Paris and Prince, is not involved at all. But she’s the subject of so many bogus rumors, she files huge lawsuits.

August 9, 2009: Michael’s friend Mark Lester says he might be Paris’ dad.

August 24, 2009: Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson claims he’s MJ’s son.

August 31, 2009: Blanket’s mother is now rumored to be an unnamed Mexican nurse named Helena, and his father is rumored to be Macaulay Culkin.

September 2, 2009: Paris gets a haircut; Security collects DNA evidence.

October 22, 2009: Numerous parties, including Michael’s shady father Joe, question the legal validity of the singer’s will, which is nevertheless ruled valid.

October 28, 2009: Michael Jackson’s This Is It, a documentary of rehearsal footage of the superstar preparing for a tour that never was, his theaters.

November 1, 2009: An alleged autopsy photo is leaked, its validity questionable.

Janet and Michael Jackson

Michael and Janet Jackson were very close.

February 1, 2010: The Grammy Awards honor Michael, with Prince, Paris and Blanket on hand to receive an award on his behalf and make him proud.

February 2, 2010: Murray is officially charged with involuntary manslaughter.

February 8, 2010: Katherine Jackson calls Murray a monster and says MJ’s death was not natural; Joe and La Toya say the charges aren’t enough.

February 9, 2010: Michael’s autopsy is released, and as weird as you think.

February 17, 2010: The timeline of Michael Jackson’s death becomes a point of contention between the prosecution and Dr. Conrad Murray’s defense.

March 2, 2010: One of Jermaine Jackson’s kids, also living under the roof of Katherine Jackson, buys a stun gun and tries to taser poor little Blanket.

March 15, 2010: Omer Bhatti reportedly tells Michael’s kids that HE is their father now; Other reports circulate that the kids are living in utter chaos.

April 4, 2010: Murray’s defense strategy is outlined, and fairly simple: Michael Jackson killed himself with Propofol when Murray left to use the can.

The Bad Doc

BAD DOC: Will Conrad Murray be held accountable?

April 7, 2010: Murray reportedly refuses a plea deal, claiming that Jackson was an addict who would “push the line” and do anything to get his way.

May 3, 2010: Jason Pfeiffer alleges a gay affair with Michael Jackson; Arnold Klein backs him up; Both face death threats and widespread ridicule.

May 14, 2010: Elizabeth Taylor defends her old friend, lambasting Klein.

June 21, 2010: Katherine, the children’s legal guardian, says they have no friends, but are going to a real school this fall, and are generally happy.

June 23, 2010: Joe claims Conrad Murray was drinking at a strip club before treating Michael on that fateful day; The doc calls this pure nonsense.

Jake Pavelka “Makes Fist” at Vienna Girardi During Heated, Emotionally-Charged Reunion

Reuniting for the first time since the end of their fake relationship, Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi faced off in a joint interview on Wednesday night.

For a segment to air next month on The Bachelorette, of course.

The taped reunion between the fame-obsessed pair, whose breakup is becoming more bitter by the day, quickly got out of hand – and nearly violent.

According to reports, Jake Pavelka “exploded in anger” at Vienna Girardi and at one point turned toward her and pulled his arm back, making a fist.

It was a shocking display that left Vienna in tears, and left witnesses wondering if Jake might be getting ready to straight up whomp his ex-fiancee.

At another point, Jake told Vienna to “shut up” three times.

FAKE COUPLE, REAL DRAMA: That’s Jake and Vienna for you.

The Breakup of the Century is dominating headlines this week, prompting ABC to capitalize by secretly reuniting the warring duo for footage that will air July 5.

They had to know what was coming (possibly because they scripted it).

“Jake was visibly angry,” a source said. “At one point he wheeled back and I thought he was going to throw a punch. He pulled his arm back, his hand in a fist.”

Despite obvious tension and drama, a longtime friend of Jake’s insists: “Jake would NEVER hit her, EVER. End of story. The guy doesn’t even use swear words.”

ABC also denies that any punches or near-punches were thrown. “The atmosphere was emotionally charged,” the network acknowledged in a statement, but:

“However, and contrary to reports that have surfaced, at no time was anyone physically in harm’s way, nor was anyone ever threatened with physical violence.”

As Bachelorette host-pimp Chris Harrison tried to keep things from getting heated, Pavelka stood up in frustration, asking pointedly, “Will you just let me finish?”

“He couldn’t get a word out, it was very reflective of their relationship,” says a source, who adds that host Chris often had to tell Girardi, “Vienna, let him talk.”

We’ll know for sure July 5, but she supposedly storms off in tears.

“Vienna was on the defense. She was trying to play victim.”

Eclipse Premiere Face-Off: Kellan Lutz vs. Peter Facinelli

Don’t worry, Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli. We haven’t forgotten about you.

While most attention paid to male stars of the Twilight Saga is centered around Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, these two studs aren’t exactly hard on the eyes themselves, are they?

Lutz and Facinelli joined their Eclipse co-stars at that movie’s Los Angeles premiere last night. Both were accompanied by pretty dates (AnnaLynne McCord and Jennie Garth, respectively) – but let’s focus on just the hunks for now.

Compare, contrast, ogle and vote below…

Eclipse Premiere Pretty-Off: Ashley Greene vs. Nikki Reed

Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner at the Hollywood premiere of Eclipse? Handsome.

Kristen Stewart on that same red carpet? Risky.

Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed? Both gorgeous… but only one can be named a winner of this edition of a THG Fashion Face-Off.

Study the beauties below and then vote in our poll. Best of luck, ladies!

Kate Gosselin: The Botched Botox

Kate Gosselin debuted an interesting look yesterday.

Rocking oddly spiked eyebrows and a noticeably smoother face as she ran errands, the reality mom looks to have suffered botox treatments gone horribly wrong.

In the before-and-after comparison of Kate Gosselin pictures below, you can see how her brow is elevated in an abnormally high position, looking quite off kilter.

Perhaps this to prep for guest-hosting The View? In any case, it’s yet another case of unnecessary treatment coupled with poor exeuction. What a winning combo!

Kate Gosselin Botox

SO WRONG: Kate Gosselin made the right move ditching the reverse mullet dead opossum weave she patented, but what the hell happened to her face? Yeesh.

You’d think after getting a tummy tuck and a boob job (supposedly), she’d know where to find a good surgeon. Or perhaps Hailey Glassman’s dad got revenge …

Third-Rate Tabloids Declare End of Brangelina

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are so done. Come on, it could not be more obvious. After the 12th consecutive fight to end all fights, what more is there to say?

Even the big-name celebrity gossip tabloids took a rare break from bashing Brangelina this week, but not New Weekly and Famous, which apparently exist.

The two biggest stars in Hollywood split up – and shockingly, no one noticed until NW broke the news! What a scoop! Same with that police blowout. Wow.

There’s apparently no limit to the number of times police are called to their home, and Ange moves out, or Brad is sneaking around with Jennifer Aniston.

Who cares if we’ve heard it 20 times before, or there’s never any evidence to support these outrageous claims, they keep selling magazines (somehow).

Guess Angelina Jolie being awesome isn’t as salacious of a story …

Ange Moves OutThe Fight to End All Fights

FAMOUS-LY BAD REPORTING: Angelina is “sick of Brad’s boozing.” Elsewhere, Posh Spice’s $1M proves she’s Queen of all WAGs and the Glee cast was told NO SEX!

Kristen Stewart at Premiere of Eclipse: Bare Armed and Dangerous!

In almost all of her public appearances, Kristen Stewart comes across as shy and reserved.

But there’s one way in which this actress isn’t afraid to express herself: via red carpet fashion.

Stewart is rarely seen in a typical, conversative dress. Just look at examples from a Metropolitan Museum of Art event in May and from a promotional stop in Rome last week.

The actress mixed it up against last night at the world premiere of Eclipse in Hollywood. If you can stop ogling pics of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner at the event for just a moment, check out Kristen’s unusual outfit below and sound off on it:

Eclipse Premiere Face-Off: Robert Pattinson vs. Taylor Lautner

Eclipse will be a box office smash. We all know that.

But what about the fashion choices of the movie’s main cast members stars? Will they be as popular? That was the main topic of conversation at the film’s Hollywood premiere last night.

Because their characters square off against each other so often, it’s only appropriate for us to pit Robert Pattinson (donning a maroon Gucci suit) against Taylor Lautner below? Are you on Team Edward or Team Jacob in this case?

Sorry, but Team They Are Both So Frickin Hot and I’d Give Anything for Five Minutes Alone with Either One isn’t an option…
