Henry Winkler mourns Gary Coleman’s death

June 2, 2010

Beloved to audiences as “The Fonz” on Happy Days, Henry Winkler is deeply saddened by the premature passing of fellow TV icon, Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman. “You know what? Maybe for the first time in his life, Gary’s at peace,” Henry told In Touch at Vanity Fair’s celebration of the second season of Royal Pains at the Lacoste store in New York, which benefited international humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders. Henry, 64, recently joined the cast of the USA Network hit as Eddie Lawson, the father of Hank (Mark Feurstein) and Evan (Paulo Costanzo). “Evan loves me, but I have to win over Hank — he’s not so easy,” Henry reveals. “Is it because I left when my wife was sick and left the boys alone or because I borrowed money and never paid them back?” Despite his character Eddie’s past shadiness, Henry says the deadbeat dad isn’t all bad. “He has an unbelievably good heart and is completely misunderstood,” he says. “And you know how Hank is able to ‘MacGyver’ all of his medicine — where do think he learned that from?” Royal Pains premieres on USA Network on Thursday, June 3, at 10 p.m. ET.

First Look: Lady Gaga “Alejandro” Video Teaser

It seems like just a few months ago that we were buzzing over Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” music video. We suppose it was. But she’s already got a new hit.

On the singer’s CNN appearance Tuesday night, she told Larry King that the music video for her current single, “Alejandro,” will be premiering very soon.

She explained that the video has a “homoerotic military theme.”

Well, sure, all the good ones do. While it won’t address hermaphrodite rumors the way “Telephone” did, it does contain an important theme for Lady G.

“It is a celebration of my love and appreciation for the gay community, my admiration of their bravery, love for one another and their courage,” said Gaga.

The new video, directed by fashion photographer Steven Klein, is at least partially in black and white. Watch the clip below and tell us what you think:

Miley Cyrus: Untamed in Paris!

Let’s give Miley Cyrus credit.

With the release of her new single, “Can’t Be Tamed,” the singer made it clear that she’s shed the innocent image of Hannah Montana. She’s continued that sexy trend ever since, performing on Dancing with the Stars and dressing like this during a concert in Portugal.

As long as Miley keeps it real, we’re okay with this new, mature, seductive side. Just don’t pretend like you’re still a naive Disney teen, Miles. You know exactly what you’re doing.

And she did it again in Paris last night, exposing more skin than ever before at Club 1515. Don’t ogle too much, fellas. She’s still only 17 years old…

In Touch Exclusive:Jillian Michaels was an emotional eater

JillianMichaels0602.jpg

“Food was always there for me during really hard times. It was something to look forward to everyday when I was feeling depressed or down,” Jillian Michaels tells In Touch exclusively.

Anyone who’s ever seen The Biggest Loser knows that trainer Jillian Michaels is confident, tough and impossibly fit. But, as the 36-year-old exclusively reveals to In Touch, she wasn’t always so strong. “At 12 or 13, I weighed 175 pounds,” she admits. “I was the loser at my school. I had pictures of me with my horse in my locker, and kids would make whinnying and mooing sounds at me in the hallways. It tore me to pieces.” But Jillian insists that she’s made peace with her past. “I’m glad it happened, because it taught me empathy and humility,” she says. On her new show, Losing It With Jillian, she helps families work through their food and weight issues, and she says her own first-hand experience with emotional eating helps her relate.

While dealing with her negative self image and taunts from schoolmates, Jillian turned to food for comfort. “It became my friend,” she explains. “Food was always there for me during really hard times. It was something to look forward to everyday when I was feeling depressed or down.” Fitness, in the form of martial arts, finally changed her life: Not only did she lose weight after starting to work out in her late teens, but the exercise “gave me a feeling of being empowered,” she says. “I felt confident and strong, and that’s when people stopped picking on me. They saw that I had self-respect.”

Kelly Killoren Bensimon can breathe a sigh of relief — the society crowd will be gossiping about a new Housewife. Sonja Morgan was busted for a DWI after partying in New York’s Hamptons on Memorial Day weekend. The ex-wife of famous businessman J. P. Morgan’s great-grandson, John Adams Morgan, was pulled over by Southampton police for driving through a stop sign and was charged after failing a sobriety test in the wee hours of May 31. At the Bravo hit’s third season premiere in March, new girl Sonja predicted that she’d spice up the series. “I am a drama queen, and I love to have a good time,” she told In Touch.

Christie Brinkley: Jesse cheating on Sandra is “narcissistic” and “heartbreaking”

ChristieBrinkley0524.jpg

Supermodel Christie Brinkley, whose ex-husband Peter Cook cheated on her with his 18-year-old employee, empathizes with fellow victims of infidelity like Sandra Bullock and John Edwards’ estranged wife, Elizabeth. “That’s heartbreaking,” she tells the July issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. “It’s an epidemic of male narcissism gone wild. That someone could cheat on any woman with cancer -– or an Academy Award winner.” Still, being wronged hasn’t turned the 56-year-old stunner off of romance completely. “This is not exactly dating central out here, [but] I still feel that the right guy is out there somewhere,” says Christie, who’s been married and divorced four times. “I’m not looking for the same things I was looking for earlier in my life.”

“Mrs. Garrett” speaks: “I wish I could’ve helped Gary”

Before moving on to her own spin-off sitcom The Facts of Life, Charlotte Rae co-starred with the late Gary Coleman on Diff’rent Strokes as Mrs. Garrett — and the 84-year-old actress shared her grief over the 42-year-old actor’s tragic death with Entertainment Tonight. “He was a phenomenon,” she tells ET. “This little, tiny young kid — smart, talented — and the world just fell in love with him. And I did, too.” After hearing the news that Gary died, Charlotte says, “My heart became very heavy; I felt very sad. He was a beautiful soul,” she reveals. “I wished I could be of service to him; I wished I could have helped him, but I felt I couldn’t just rush in and do something, and I really felt helpless,” she says of Gary’s later, more turbulent years that often landed him in the tabloid headlines. “I didn’t know what I could do to help his life have a better quality.” Although she hadn’t seen Gary for years, she says he checked in with her about 10 years ago because of a book that was being written about him. Charlotte invited Gary over to “dish and talk and connect,” but although he agreed to visit, “He never did. I would have loved it, because we had such a happy time together. He was so adorable.”

Lance Bass and Pink Make Like Adam Lambert

The influence of Adam Lambert is spreading.

First, images from a shoot Lance Bass did with photographer Mike Ruiz have been released online – and many believe they invoke the former American Idol finalist and his glam style.

We’d sprinkle in a bit of Marilyn Manson, as well, but one thing appears for certain: this ex-boy bander is trying out a new image. What do you think of it?

Meanwhile, Pink took to the stage as part of her Funhouse Summer Carnival tour and covered a song she helped write, “Whataya Want From Me.”

The singer said she gave it to someone that could sing it much better than she ever could, but she holds her own in the clip below. Don’t you agree?

In Touch Exclusive:Fran Drescher: Meet my gay ex-husband

FranDrescher0524.jpg

“Peter and I met when we were 15. We were just kids and didn’t know who we truly were. We went through a lot together.” – Fran Drescher tells In Touch exclusively about her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson.

Fran Drescher has never been shy about voicing her support for gay rights: In 2008, she and her former husband co-hosted a cocktail party in LA to benefit an organization that has sought to block California’s ban on same-sex marriage. But it turns out that the cause was even closer to the Nanny star’s heart than her fans could have guessed — as In Touch can now exclusively reveal, Peter Marc Jacobson, the man to whom Fran, 52, was married for more than two decades, is gay. “Peter and I met when we were 15,” Fran tells In Touch. “We were just kids and didn’t know who we truly were. We went through a lot together.” The couple split for good in 1999, and according to an insider, Peter later came out of the closet to Fran. They continue to collaborate and are still “the best of friends. We love each other dearly,” she says. “We have even fixed each other up! I more successfully than him, by the way.” They’re even working together on a new sitcom based on their relationship. “Peter and I feel so blessed to have met each other and to still have a caring, loving relationship,” Fran says. “Love is what we’re all about.”

Jesse James is using Sunny to get closer to Sandra

“He’s basically dangling Sunny like a carrot in front of Sandy, knowing she loves her and won’t be able to stay away,” a source tells In Touch.

Sandra Bullock may have filed divorce papers, but that hasn’t stopped Jesse James from getting a home near Sandra’s in Austin. Though Jesse has owned a garage there “for years,” a source says, “Jesse is claiming that he needs to tend to that business now. Additionally, Jesse is currently battling for custody of Sunny with his ex-wife Janine Lindemulder. “His attorney has filed a declaration saying he’s moving to Austin with Sunny,” says a source close to Jesse. “He’s stating it like it’s a done deal.” The source says that Jesse is uprooting Sunny, taking her away from her half-siblings and sending her to a new school — all to get closer to Sandra. “He’s basically dangling Sunny like a carrot in front of Sandy, knowing she loves her and won’t be able to stay away,” the source explains.
