Lindsay lucks out again

May 21, 2010

Yesterday, Lindsay Lohan was in danger of being arrested for missing a mandatory court hearing in LA, but blamed a lost (and possibly stolen) passport for leaving her stranded in Cannes, France — where she made the best of her extended stay by attending lots of parties. But it was nothing $100,000 couldn’t solve: Lindsay posted the cash as bail to insure that she wouldn’t be put into handcuffs when she eventually makes it home. “If she wanted to be here, it looks to the court that she could have been here,” said the judge, before rescinding the arrest warrant and giving Lindsay one last chance. The star, who reportedly finally got a flight back for Saturday, has been ordered to submit to drug testing and wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet — and she will find out the rest of her fate first-thing Monday morning. The hearing is regarding possible violations in her probation stemming from her 2007 arrests on drug and driving charges. “I don’t know if she needs rehab or a psych ward,” said her dad, Michael, of his daughter’s allegations that he conspired to take her passport. “Why would I do anything like that when I’m trying to help her? Why would I not want her back in court? I hope she straightens all this out and gets her life back together.”

New couple alert: Russell Simmons and Sophie Monk

RussellSophie0521.jpg

It looks like hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and Aussie model Sophie Monk are getting serious! The new couple attended Maxim’s Hot 100 party in LA on May 19 together. Russell, who has a thing for models, couldn’t keep his eyes off the leggy blonde, who showed up in a tiny bright-blue miniskirt. Sophie, who has been seen at the gym frequently, showed off her toned body and visibly plumper lips at the party. An onlooker tells In Touch, “Russell was eyeing her while she was giving an interview — they seem really happy together.” This marks the first event the two have attended together since being rumored to be dating back in August.

Idol’s Casey: “I knew it was coming”

His audition was memorable because American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi coerced him to take his shirt off, but 27-year-old Casey James proved he was more than just eye candy by making it all the way to the show’s Top 3, until he finally struck out last night.

“I’ve been prepared at every round since the beginning of the show,” Casey said after his elimination. “You never know what will be, and you have to be prepared either way. I was elated every time I made it through. I kind of knew it was coming, so I was more than prepared.”

And with Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox being the only contestants left standing, Casey is not placing bets either way on a winner. “They both have very unique, stand-out, sounds,” he says. “They are who they are and that’s why people are voting for them. It’s going to be a crazy good show.”

The competition may be over for Casey, but like all of this season’s Top 12, Casey will be back for the show’s finale next week on Fox on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET and on hand next Wednesday, also at 8 p.m. ET, to congratulate the next American Idol.

Evan Lysacek puts DWTS on ice!

The big Dancing With the Stars finale is just a few days away and no one is working harder than Top 3 finalist Evan Lysacek. Throughout the competition, Evan has been doing double duty on the dance floor and on the ice, as part of the Smucker’s Stars on Ice show currently touring the country. On May 20, Evan invited his DWTS cast mates to see what he does best at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. “I was nervous, anxious and excited, as I wanted to do a good job for them,” Evan told In Touch at the reception he hosted after the show. “Mark [Ballas] choreographed the number I did [to Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror”], so I hope it resembled what he showed me several months ago.” Those on hand to support included Louis van Amstel, Buzz Aldrin, Damian Whitewood, Edyta Sliwinska, Mark Ballas and Chelsie Hightower, who sang Evan’s praises afterwards. “He was amazing,” Chelsie told In Touch after the show. “I was freaking out and wanted to jump out of my seat!”

While Evan is a featured skater in the show, leaving much of the performing to his celebrated skating co-stars, the mere mention of his name sent the crowd into a frenzy. “Hearing their cheers and feeling the connection keeps me going,” says Evan. “I have really loyal skating fans and that’s why it was important to do both things. I really wanted to do Dancing With the Stars and could have waited, but I wanted to be a part of this 10th season as they told me it would be a special cast, but no one could have anticipated we would be as close as we are.” But it’s still a competition: With the mirror ball trophy in his sights, Evan has no time to rest. Partner Anna Trebunskaya has been putting him through his paces in preparation for next week’s four dances. “She was backstage,” he laughs. “And I am meeting her after this. We started at 8 a.m., I rushed to do this, and we are going to keep working after this.”

Despite the grueling schedule, Evan insists he and Anna are not putting too much pressure on themselves, because their goal was simply to make the finals. “That has always been my philosophy about competitions,” he says. “We will put in every effort and go without sleep, but we have to feel like we have done everything we can to win. If we don’t we are completely satisfied, as we couldn’t have done anymore.”

Will Evan take gold — or mirrors, in this case — next week? Tune in Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET to ABC’s Dancing With the Stars to see if he earns the No. 1 spot.

DWTS’s Maksim: “What you don’t know about Erin”

With her dazzling smile, sexy attire, and hot moves on the dance floor, Erin Andrews may seem like the most confident contender on this season of Dancing With the Stars, but according to her partner (and rumored boyfriend) Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the ESPN sportscaster was hardly the powerhouse she is today when she first began rehearsals. “She came in as somebody who got really hurt and could put up an incredible wall around her. Maybe people misunderstood her personality as being kind of stand-offish,” the dancing pro told In Touch at the 11th Annual Maxim Hot 100 Party in LA on May 19. Luckily Erin, who suffered through a stalker nightmare last year, eventually blossomed before the camera. “Now, people think she is goofy and funny and sexy, and she likes to dress up and show off!” Maksim added. The talented twosome has tangoed to the top three, and is now in the running to win on the season finale of the ABC hit dancing competition this week. But Maks thinks his golden girl has already taken home the prize. “She’s a winner already,” he said. Erin’s stalker, Michael David Barrett, was recently sentenced to 30 months in prison after he was convicted of secretly videotaping the star through hotel peepholes on at least three separate occasions.

Heidi Montag’s Father Sort of Defends Speidi

This season on The Hills, Spencer Pratt has gone completely off the deep end, declaring that he doesn’t allow wife Heidi Montag to watch TV or go online.

Still, Heidi’s dad, Bill Montag, isn’t too worried. Why? “Heidi is such a strong-willed individual that I don’t think that Spencer is going to manipulate her.”

Clearly Bill doesn’t watch The Hills, despite once being on it.

“Also I think she knows, and so does Spencer: if I thought my daughter was in any harm’s way with Spencer, I would be there,” adds her cowboy dad.

Still, Bill is concerned about Heidi, who ceased communication with her father in March and changed her phone “so I can’t even reach her,” he says.

“I think they’ll realize there are people that love them and care for them and friends and family,” he says. “I pray for them to find peace and happiness. They’re not going to find it in crystals and light and all this stuff I’ve read about.”

LOL. Good to see he’s keeping up on celebrity gossip.

The Colorado rancher – who divorced Heidi’s mom, Darlene Egelhoff, when Heidi was 3, has mixed feelings about his daughter’s plastic surgery binge.

“I’ve always thought that Heidi always looked like me, and [her sister Holly Montag] looks like her mom,” Bill jokes. “I remember Heidi saying in a magazine once that she didn’t want my nose, so I gave her grief about that!”

Montag feels like he “let her down” because he wasn’t aware she was unhappy enough to change her appearance, but he still supports her decision.

“We don’t always approve of everything our children do, but we support them and we’re there for them … She doesn’t need a lecture about the whole thing. The only thing I can say is we’re there and we’re her family. She and I were very close.”

Should Susan Boyle Guest Star on Glee?

At some point this year, Ryan Murphy is hoping to combine two of pop culture’s most buzzed-about recent phenomenons.

The Glee creator is on record as saying he hopes Susan Boyle would consider a guest-starring role on his hit Fox show. In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, Murphy says Boyle wold make an ideal lunch lady in a December episode:

“I think Kurt would just die to give her a Christmas makeover. I don’t even know if she’s interested, but it’s been pitched.”

In real life, of course, the Britain’s Got Talent finalist has already undergone a makeover.

Just Being Susan

Less than a full season into its run, Glee has already welcomed such guest stars as Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Patrick Harris and Molly Shannon.

Would Boyle be a good fit on the show? Should she be next?

Jesse James to Cry, Act Contrite on Nightline

Poor Jesse James is finally opening up and telling his side of the story. The story of his cheating on, lying and deceiving Sandra Bullock. It makes him really sad, okay?!

ABC released its first teaser of its Nightline and Good Morning America interviews with James, set to air Tuesday, and America’s Most Hated needed a sec to cry it out.

“I took a pretty amazing life and amazing success and marriage … and threw it away by my own hands,” says James, choked up. “Let me take a break for a second.”

Dude actually gets up from his chair. It’s hilarious.

James Sucks

How interviewer Vicki Mabrey responds is unclear as Nightline doesn’t want to give too much away. The minute long clip below shows more questions than answers.

She does ask James how he feels about the Oscar speech by Sandra Bullock, when she said, “I never knew what it was like for someone to have my back until you.”

Little did she know he was tapping the backside of Michelle McGee several times a day for awhile. Punk. Here’s the first clip of James’ attempt to elicit sympathy:

Young Celebrities Line Up on Red Carpet for The CW

Throughout this week, all major networks descended upon New York City for their annual Upfront Presentations. At these events, each delivered its 2010-2011 primetime schedule.

We’d show you photos from the CBS festivites, but stars on that channel’s shows are old.

On NBC, they’ll all probably be replaced by Jay Leno soon.

Fox, meanwhile, can get back to us when it replaces Simon Cowell on American Idol; and we’re mad at ABC taking away Lost from us this Sunday.

That leaves us with The CW, which airs enjoyable shows (Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries) and features hot, young actors/actresses. Perfect! Ogle many of them below:
