May 4, 2010

Biggest Loser season 3 winner Erik Chopin gained nearly all of his weight back in the years after he took home the top prize, so trainer Bob Harper challenged him to take it off again in time for this season’s finale — which is on May 25! “I’m getting there,” Erik, seen here on Easter with his family, tells In Touch. “But I feel like there’s still a way to go.” Luckily, he’s spending his last three weeks on his own special “last chance workout” at the Biggest Loser ranch in Utah!

Read on for Erik’s exclusive update on his journey.

Star-studded Tony nominations!

This year’s Tony Awards will look more like the Oscars — a slew of Hollywood stars, including Scarlett Johansson, Jude Law, Liev Schreiber, Denzel Washington and Catherine Zeta-Jones were nominated for theater’s highest honors on May 4.

“What a thrill to be nominated! I couldn’t imagine a better way to make my Broadway debut,” said Catherine, who is up for lead actress in a musical for A Little Night Music. Scarlett, who also made her Broadway debut in A View from the Bridge, got her nod for featured actress in a play. Sitcom stars Sean Hayes (for Promises, Promises) and Kelsey Grammer (for La Cage aux Folles) will compete for best actor in a musical, while Jude (Hamlet), Liev (A View from the Bridge) and Denzel (Fences) will all face off against Christopher Walken (A Behanding in Spokane) and Alfred Molina (Red) for best actor in a play. But Jude will have to bring girlfriend Sienna Miller as his date because she was snubbed for her Broadway debut in After Miss Julie. And in another surprise, Tony favorite (and former host) Hugh Jackman, along with Daniel Craig, his co-star in A Steady Rain, also didn’t make the cut.

Will Smith, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys will no doubt be cheering on Best Musical nominee Fela!, which they produced. The show, which Madonna loved so much she saw it twice, got a total of 11 nominations. Also up for Best Musical is Green Day’s rock opera American Idiot, featuring Theo Stockman, the boyfriend of Glee‘s Lea Michele.

The Tony Awards will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York on June 13.

New Couple Alert: Keanu Reeves & Charlize Theron?

Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron had dinner out last night … dinner followed by a looooong hug (and kiss!) goodbye outside Bouchon in Beverly Hills.

They weren’t shy about their PDA while waiting for the valet after sharing a romantic dinner, although the rumored couple did drive home separately.

News of Charlize and longtime partner Stuart Townsend’s split emerged in late January. Neither one of these attractive A-list stars has ever married.

Reeves and Theron starred in 1997’s The Devil’s Advocate and 2001’s Sweet November, so there is definite history there … of shared mediocre films.

Jaime Bergman May Sue David Boreanaz Mistress; Actor Accuses Gloria Allred of Extortion

Earlier today, married Bones star David Boreanaz admitted having an affair with an unnamed woman who he claims was trying to extort him for money.

Now, his wife Jamie Bergman may sue the woman he had affair with. As a Utah resident, she has grounds to file a lawsuit for “alienation of affection.”

Really. Jamie believes the chick – who TMZ reports is NOT Rachel Uchitel, who Boreanaz also slept with – intended to breakup her marriage, it’s so on.

The David Boreanaz affair came to light after his former mistress contacted an attorney and threatened to go to various media outlets with her story.

Naturally, that attorney was Gloria Allred.

Boreanaz says he refused to cough up the money she wanted so he, took the David Letterman route, outed himself and now accuses Allred of extortion.

Does Jaime Bergman have a case against David Boreanaz’s mistress?

Allred who also reps Uchitel and helped the most notorious of the many Tiger Woods mistresses negotiate a mammoth settlement, denies any wrongdoing on her part and puts the blame for his actions squarely on Boreanaz.

Gloria claims David’s lawyer, Marty Singer, tried contacting the mistress and only then did she get involved – and says she may have other “legal claims.”

Singer responded that Allred’s claim is only that Boreanaz had promised the mistress that she was “exclusive” … even though she knew he was married.

The woman had a very short-term liaison with Boreanaz – 2-3 times – after which he paid her money but she allegedly kept demanding more and more.

Singer says on April 23, the woman left a threatening message that she had not gotten enough coin and was going public. On Monday, he says he got a call from Allred, who said woman was looking to get paid at least six figures.

She then threatened to go public unless David upped the ante, Singer says, so Boreanaz told the story publicly Monday. But Allred is ready to fight back:

“My client has not told her story, but now that Mr. Boreanaz is attacking her she has decided to tell the story of the relationship. The truth will come out.”

The plot thickens! Stay tuned

MET Matchup: Gwen Stefani vs. Alexa Chung

As she deals with rumors of her husband’s infidelity, Gwen Stefani smiled on the red carpet with Gavin Rossdale last night.

The singer looked beautiful, especially compared to Alexa Chung. No offense to that TV host and personality, but simply put: what the heck was she thinking at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala?!?

Was this the worst fashion disaster at the event? Kristen Stewart might have something to say about it. Take a look at what that actress wore to the benefit. YIKES!

Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Diddy to Present at MTV Movie Awards

Past and present co-stars Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are among the first presenters announced for this year’s MTV Movie Awards, according to reports.

We haven’t seen Mr. Crazy Pants in awhile, so that should be exciting. Hopefully there’s a couch for him to jump on … or a montage of Suri Cruise photos.

The actors will be joined on the celebrity telecast by Diddy, who is also a confirmed presenter. All this should make for an exciting, star-studded evening.

In addition, MTV has announced three new categories in this year’s show: Biggest Bad-Ass Star; Best Scared-As-S— Performance and Global Superstar.

This year’s MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by Aziz Ansari (known for some of the funniest Parks and Recreation quotes) and will air live on June 6 at 9 p.m.

Chely Wright Opens Up About Suicidal Thoughts, John Rich Bigotry

Earlier this week, Chely Wright came out as gay.

But that’s not the most dramatic news this country music singer has to share with the world. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Wright divulged that she was very close to suicide.

The low point of her struggle with homosexuality, Chely said, took place during a discussion with fellow artist John Rich. She relayed it to the entertainment news show as follows:

“He said, “You’re not gay are you?!” I said, “No, John, I’m not.” He said, “Good, thank God.” And that began a spiral for me. I had a meltdown shortly after that.”

This self-described meltdown culminated with a loaded gun in Wright’s hand.

“I was looking at myself in a mirror… as I was about to do it. I just looked at myself and something snapped and I started to cry… and I realized I have too much to live for. I may lose my career in country music, that will break my heart, but it’s okay. I have a lot of different pieces of my heart that matter and that’s what I’ve come to learn.”

As we’ve said before, Wright’s admissions would seem less opportunistic if they came during a week that did not involve the releae of an autobiography and a new album.

But why be cynical? Here’s to hoping this singer has found inner peace and is moving in a positive direction with her life.
