Jay Manuel on Tyra’s romance: “I think she’s very much herself”

March 16, 2010

Hostess Tyra Banks may turn down runway wannabes on
America’s Next Top Model, but according to her pal Jay Manuel, there is one person she won’t be rejecting any time soon: her boyfriend of three years, businessman John Utendahl. “I’ve seen Tyra in her current relationship, and I think she’s very much herself. When you see that real moment, she’s comfortable — and being comfortable is the most important thing,” ANTM‘s photo shoot director Jay told In Touch about his smitten friend at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York on March 13. So will Tyra be walking down the aisle? “I think she definitely will, but does she have plans to get married right now? Not that I know of yet!” he added. The catwalk queen will certainly have time for wedding planning in the near future — she recently announced that her daytime talk program, The Tyra Show, will end after the spring 2010 season.

Dancing With the Stars’ Erin Andrews’ stalker to spend 2 1/2 years in prison

Justice was finally served for ESPN reporter Erin Andrews.
Michael David Barrett, who pleaded guilty to interstate stalking after secretly videotaping the blond beauty through hotel room peepholes in at least three cities, was sentenced to 30 months behind bars for his actions. “I’m being traumatized every single day for what he did. This will never be over for me,” Erin told her stalker in the LA courtroom on March 15. Despite her painful ordeal, Erin will not slink away from the spotlight — she is ready to rumba on the 10th season of Dancing With the Stars, premiering March 22 on ABC.

Miley Cyrus to the Internet: You Suck!

Despite coming of age in an era where websites and wired fans fawn over her every move and contribute to her fame, Miley Cyrus has no love for the online world.

THG has no love for her, so it looks like we’re even!

At the very least, you have to give Miley props for practicing what she preaches, having axed her Twitter to focus on being truer to herself and BF Liam Hemsworth.

But bashing the Internets in general? Watch it, girl. It’s one thing to call out your critics, it’s another to bite the cyber hand that feeds you, no matter your intent.

“I’m telling kids, don’t go on the internet,” Miley told Movieline. “It’s dangerous, it’s not fun, it wastes your life. You should be outside playing sports or something.”

Miley Eats It

EAT IT: That’s basically Miley Cyrus’ message to the World Wide Web.

“I just think it’s kind of lame. I feel like I hang out with my friends and they’re so busy taking pictures of what they’re doing and putting them on Facebook.”

“They’re not really enjoying what they’re doing. You’re going to look back and have a million pictures, but you’re not actually going to be in any of them.”

“Because you’re not having fun, you’re too busy clicking away. So I think just enjoy the moment you’re in, and stop telling people about it. So just enjoy it.”

Okay, we have to agree with Miley on that philosophy. It’s very mature. We’re impressed that a huge star can reflect and maintain that kind of perspective.

However, she’s sort of insulting her fans at the same time, and there’s certainly a place for everything in moderation. Click here to follow THG on Twitter!

Report: Paula Abdul to Host Star Search Remake

Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul is said to be “finalizing a deal” to star in a new version of Star Search, the ’80s-era talent show hosted by Ed McMahon.

Hope her contract includes open bar.

Slated for Summer 2010, the Star Search reboot is said to feature Abdul serving as a combination judge and host, although details are still being worked out.

ABC, which is said to be developing the show, did not comment to Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the news about the recently departed Idol staple.

Is Paula Abdul nearing a return to reality TV?

Rumors suggesting Paula was headed for Dancing With the Stars as well as Idol frenemy Simon Cowell’s upcoming X Factor series have also circulated recently.

The original Star Search wasn’t just for singers: actors, comedians and models vied to win the competition. So basically, it’s like Britain’s / America’s Got Talent.

One alum of the long-running show: Britney Spears.

What do you think of a revamped Star Search and the idea of Paula on board? Do we really need more shows like this – and is she the right person to host one?

Erin Andrews: Peephole Stalker Violated Me!

“You are a sexual predator, a sexual deviant. They should lock you up.”

With these words, ESPN reporter Erin Andrews tore into Michael David Barrett, the stalker who pleaded guilty in December to following her to at least three cities and shooting nude videos of her through hotel peepholes without her consent.

“You violated me and you violated all women,” Erin said told the total creep and now convicted stalker, who was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison for videotaping her.

The Illinois insurance executive gave a tearful apology for the peephole video of Erin Andrews nude, but it fell upon deaf ears and was harshly rebuked by his victim.

In fact, Andrews urged q judge at the hearing to levy an even harsher sentence against Barrett and said that she now fears for her life every time she enters a hotel.

After the sentencing, she said, “Thirty months isn’t enough.”

NOT ENOUGH: Erin says the perv’s 30-month sentence doled out yesterday is not nearly long enough for his creepy behavior. We find it hard to argue with her there.

Michael Barrett, who has until May 3 to surrender, was ordered to have supervised probation for three years after his release and is prohibited from contacting Erin.

He will not be allowed to stay in a hotel without approval of a probation officer and if he accepts employment somewhere, Andrews will be notified by the court.

You can watch Erin Andrews in less creepy fashion beginning next week, when she joins the cast of Dancing with the Stars. Last week, we sized up her chances.

Amanda Seyfried: Exquisite in Esquire

Actress Amanda Seyfried is 24 years old, gorgeous, talented and actually does not seem like a desperate, Kim Kardashian or Heidi Montag-style attention monger.

Basically, that makes the girl a prime catch.

The departing Big Love cast member recently posed for Esquire magazine, and let’s just say that if you aren’t familiar with her by now, you will be soon enough:

Corey Feldman Skipping Corey Haim Funeral Today, Planning Separate Memorial Within the Month

Corey Feldman will not be at Corey Haim’s funeral today out of respect for his best friend and fellow former child star’s family’s wishes, the actor said in a statement.

“In the days following my best friend Corey Haim’s death, I have spent much time with his mother Judy, who has always been like a mother to me,” Feldman said.

“Due to their strong religious beliefs and need for privacy,” he continued. “The family has decided to make Corey Haim’s funeral on Tuesday a small private affair.”

The private funeral service will take place Tuesday in Toronto, and is funded Startifacts, a celebrity memorabilia Web site, which volunteered to donate $20,000.

The money for the funeral will come from the auctioning off Haim’s belongings. His family asks fans to send flowers to a local cancer ward instead of the service.

2 Coreys

Corey Feldman will be MIA today, but says he will be planning a separate, public memorial for his Lost Boys co-star that will reportedly take place around April 2.

“I am working with a few people who were close to Corey to put a memorial together within the next month,” he said. “The media will be invited to honor and celebrate the legacy he left behind, along with friends, fans and the Hollywood community.”

Corey Haim died Wednesday at the age of 38 of an apparent drug overdose while at his mother’s Los Angeles. He fought a long battle with substance abuse in life.

Haim’s mom said he had an enlarged heart, pulmonary congestion and water in his lungs at the time of his death, which has been linked to a massive drug ring.

The L.A. County Coroner’s office is awaiting results of toxicology tests and has not ruled out a drug overdose, though it does not appear to be foul play or suicide.
