Celebrity Fit Club’s Rhonda Britten on the blue team- “They forgot what being a team is all about”

March 31, 2010

In the armed forces, they say never to leave a fallen soldier behind.
However, on the eighth week of this season’s Celebrity Fit Club, the blue
team didn’t seem to get that memo. During a particularly grueling military-inspired challenge during trainer Harvey’s Hell Week, Tanisha Thomas took a nasty spill. Though teammate Sebastian Bach carried the often-demanding contestant’s backpack, no one checked to see if she was okay to go on. “They deserted her. Everybody was going through a difficult time, but they forgot what being a team is all about,” the VH1 series’ resident life coach Rhonda Britten tells In Touch. The blue team ultimately lost the challenge to the red team, and Sebastian, KayCee Stroh, and Kevin Federline were left feeling ashamed when an injured Tanisha was taken to the hospital.
Despite Harvey’s punishing words for the group, Rhonda believes the exasperated team wasn’t entirely to blame for their actions. “She is like the girl who cried wolf. When is she bluffing, and when is she actually hurt? The blue team is having a hard time distinguishing that,” Rhonda added of the dramatic, tempermental Tanisha. Will the blue team pull it together to win the season in next week’s final episode? Watch next Monday to find out. Also, check out Rhonda Britten’s Fearless America tour, coming to New York City on March 31, New York’s Long Island on April 1, Los Angeles on April 19, and San Diego on April 20. Critics Slam Miley Cyrus, The Last Song

On more than one recent occasion, Miley Cyrus has said she plans on taking a hiatus from music to focus on acting.

Let’s hope her future efforts on the big screen go better than The Last Song.

A majority of film critics have come down hard on the movie, specifically citing Miley’s acting as “stiff” and “unconvincing.” Here are excerpts of what they had to say about the flick, which opens this week…

A more convincing star could make this a degree more tolerable, although in Cyrus’s defense not much more. Allegedly, this is the film in which Cyrus gets all, like, dramatic. If by ‘dramatic’ one means pouty, sullen, and cute, then OK. — The Boston Globe

Acting, for the moment at least, seems almost entirely beyond her… she pouts, slouches, storms in and out of rooms and occasionally cracks a snaggle-toothed smile, but most of the time she seems to be mugging for the camera, play-acting rather than exploring the motives and feelings of her character. — The New York Times

Cute Costars

Miley Cyrus met boyfriend Liam Hemsworth on the set of The Last Song. That’s about the only positive thing to come from the movie.

It’s the worst of both worlds as Disney cash cow Miley Cyrus makes the most dubious “dramatic” debut of any singer since Britney Spears. — The New York Post

As likable a performer as she is, Cyrus simply can’t act. Even Sparks’ formulaic material proves too challenging for her. — The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

All the obvious elements combine to manipulate the audience into a weepy time at the movies – again. — USA Today

Will you go see The Last Song? If so, write in and share your opinion on the movie… and/or your advice as to what field Miley might wish to consider next.

It’s 90210-ver for Shannon & Mark

With two dances behind her, Shannen Doherty appeared to be getting the hang of Dancing With The Stars. “My nerves are not completely gone,” Shannen told In Touch after her triumphant second dance on Monday night’s show. But on the tense elimination night — when Kate Gosselin looked pretty nervous — America’s vote left Pamela Anderson and Shannen in the bottom two.

Maybe viewers just couldn’t let go of the bad girl image that Shannen has
been trying to shake since the early days of 90210, especially because DWTS producers didn’t seem to either. “I know it’s so stupid right?” Shannen, who says she got along great with the rest of the cast, told In Touch. “I thought they might have more imagination than that, but no.”

Sandra Bullock: The Final Humiliation

Newly-minuted Oscar winner Sandra Bullock was on top of the world just a few weeks ago. Now she’s hit rock bottom amid the tawdry Jesse James cheating scandal.

James nailed Michelle McGee, Melissa Smith, Brigitte Daguerre and possibly others – but it was a shocking discovery of her own that sent The Blind Side star reeling.

Reeling so hard, according to reports, that it’s left Sandra Bullock wondering if she can ever face her cheating hubby, who just checked in to rehab in Tucson, again.

Star reports that Sandra “mistakenly grabbed Jesse’s laptop in the rush to move out of the house they shared in Sunset Beach, Calif.” What she found? SICK stuff.

No, seriously. We’re talking worse than the Jesse James Nazi photo.

Says a source, “the explicit material rocked her to the core… she stumbled upon some really twisted evidence proving he’s not the man she thought he was.” Uhh

What Sandra Saw

WHAT SANDRA SAW … made her collapse and not eat?

“She found things on his laptop that she’d never thought her husband would be into,” the source adds vaguely. “This was way beyond anything she could imagine.”

Sandra was so horrified, she “had to have the computer removed from her house.” Okay, what the heck was this guy doing, running a … you know what, forget it.

The insider concludes his or her in-depth report with this brutally honest truth: “Sandra’s just completely devastated that Jesse led a double life behind her back!”

Wow, ya think? Bold statement there.

So what was on the computer? We may never know, people. We may never know. But it sounds like it’s some seriously nasty $h!t … putting Tiger Woods to shame!

Below are two other tabloid covers this week broaching the issue somewhat less scandalously. But come on. How long until you think Sandra files for divorce?

Heather McComb, James van der Beek Finalize Divorce Terms

The Bank of Beek is open for Heather McComb.

James Van Der Beek is now one step closer to freedom, reaching a settlement with his estranged wife to amicably end their seven-year marriage this week.

Heather McComb, a onetime Party of Fiver who has guested on CSI and Prison Break, currently earns just $1,750 a month. The Beek? $35,000. Damn.

It’s a Justin Bieber World

My World, if you’re in Justin Bieber’s shoes, is not just the name of his album … or his second album, My World 2.0. It’s what the teenage baller rules. Hard.

The rest of us just live here. He should really charge rent.

Sure, the dude could keep a lid on it sometimes, saying Miley Cyrus isn’t his type or that Mariah Carey is past her prime. But his sales back up his attitude.

My World 2.0 topped the album charts this week, making Justin Bieber the youngest male solo artist ever to score a No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

Biebergasm

HIS WORLD: Justin Bieber. Cannot. Be. Stopped.

The prepubescent singer is also the youngest male solo artist to score two simultaneous albums in the top five (as My World rounds out this week’s list).

With his forthcoming national tour dates and an upcoming April 10 appearance on Saturday Night Live, Bieber is inching closer to pop culture domination.

Oh who are we kidding, he’s already dominated. Just be grateful you can even check out our gallery of Justin Bieber pictures and bow down to the king.

Kate Gosselin Planning Special “Jon & Kate Themed Routine” For Dancing with the Stars

Kate Gosselin proved she’s as good at being a diva as she is terrible at actual dancing, but she somehow survived to see another week on Dancing with the Stars

While Kate butted heads with partner Tony Dovolani this past week, wait until you hear what they have planned for next Monday’s episode of the competition.

A Jon-and-Kate-themed dance.

We are totally serious. Tony will be channeling Jon Gosselin as Kate portrays herself in next week’s storytelling assignment. Just let that sink in for a moment:

They will take her marriage implosion, which made celebrity news headlines for a year, into a high-step dance routine. And you think you’ve heard everything.

Dancing ManiacDressed For Success

If Jon Gosselin makes a cameo next week, we’ll retire.

“It’s my story over the past two years,” Kate said. “We’re very, very excited.” It will be very “Dramatic,” promises Kate. To which Tony replies, “Lots of drama.”

And ratings, most likely. Can Julianne Hough play Hailey Glassman?

Just to make sure we got the point, Kate reiterated, this time with a little more emphasis, that this is gonna be a dance with “Oh my gosh, so much drama.”

As much as we could decry this shark-jumping, contrived nonsense as a low point in reality TV history, it’s actually a pretty genius move on ABC’s part since:

  • People love Kate and don’t want to see her leave the show
  • People love watching Kate humiliate herself on the show

Either way, she’s on the show. Punch her ticket to the finals now.

American Idol Performances of the Week: Michael Lynche and Lee DeWyze

Fans will ultimately have the final say, but to THG, Michael Lynche and Lee DeWyze stood out most on American Idol Tuesday. The judges were certainly impressed.

In fact, Simon Cowell said that it was his cover of India.Arie’s “Ready for Love” that finally made him a credible artist in his eyes. For the surly Brit, that’s saying a lot.

Slowing things down with an acoustic guitar, Big Mike sounded great and wowed the panel and audience alike. We’re pretty sure the voters will turn out for this, too.

Here’s Michael Lynche singing “Ready For Love” …

Lee DeWyze also made a statement last night, perhaps propelling himself to contender status with a soulful, raspy, powerhouse rendition of “Treat Her Like a Lady.”

“This was the night your life may have changed forever,” Simon said. Again, high praise from the man. Follow the jump to see Lee do his version of the classic …
